ETS Drift Ute – 25 Hours in a day

Today spelt the end of daylight savings, that means there were 25 hours in this fine sunday, i made it my mission to use that hour (plus a few more) to continue making headways into the tin work on the chassis, read on for more.

The original plan was to seal of the engine bay and expose the gearbox but its going to be a lot cleaner with a sheet metal tunnel in the car, ill head to metal land tomorrow and pick up some 15x15x1mm square tube and make a frame to start work on that.

I have to wait a couple of weeks for Racepak to have more stock of their IQ3 Dash units so i printed out their template to start work on a bracket. Im off to NZ now so their will be more action in the coming weeks!

  5. Are you taking into account the possibility of the bell housing exploding?
Pretty rare but having seen videos of clutch plates shooting into the cabin it would worry me!

    • He’ll probably have a tunnel when it’s done, otherwise it probably wouldn’t pass scrutineering.

  7. hey mate , top job on your hilux ,ive followed you in your builds for years from ns.com , i enjoy all the updates and its coming along well , just wondered tho on the second photo , on the left side of the gear box you could make a little door where you haven’t plated yet in the firewall for accses to turbo bolts and oil lines ect , altho you’ve probly thought of it allready i thought id just put it out there ! keep up the good work !

  8. Awesome job so far! I’m still sceptical about the rigidity of the chassis to withstand all the torque and forces. Since you didn’t do any analysis before making the chassis, I’m kinda worried. But since your confident, I’ll take your word for it.
