Solar Car Chassis Project Part 1

In part 1 of this project we outline the intention of the overall project, print out the detailed instructions, unwrap the material and start getting into the marking out and measuring process. Throughout this we talk about the materials used and the processes I follow to get the cleanest material and cuts prepared for the TIG welding process.

My big bench is a huge help in this situation and it helps me layout the chromoly floorpan before tack welding it up with the TIG welder. The fabrication process of this floorpan is vital as the tube work that will weld to this will require a very close fit-up to minimise the heat inclusion into the chromoly.

We are off to a great start in part 1 and I am looking forward to progressing further with this project in part 2.
