ETS Drift Ute – Out of the shed

After running out of tube again (i really underestamated how much i was going to need) the shed needed a clean so it was time to push the ever expanding spaceframe on the jig out of the shed.

Its a little hard to figure out whats next with a project like this. Im going slower than i want to be but id rather overthink something than regretting it later on.

Ive already invested around 200 hours into this, theres a lot of standing and staring while the perfect way of doing something is figured out.

While i had a mates tripod i got creative!

  5. Absolute credit to you mate. To be honest over the years I have watched two other people build unique tube frame utes like this and both were many years ago ( and neither for drift). Ones was Bruce Garland who is now factory backed by Isuzu and runs in the Dakar Rally and the other one was Peter Muir from Bond Roll bars who built a stadium truck and was also eventually factory backed by Mazda Australia. Just thought I would throw that in because hey YA NEVER KNOW!!! Well done Nigel!!!!

  6. It looks really short man…whats the length from centre of front wheels to the backs in comparison to say an S13 or S15?

    Reply
    • Its 2700, an S15 is 2525 a JZX is 2730, decieving but as soon as the tubs fitted you will relise its just right!

    • Hinged sections that the tyre will rub on and open, thats further down the track, first ill buy some wider 4wd guards and see how i go.

  8. It’s amazing what you can achieve with hard work and dedication, you make me feel like a bum for just playing PS3 after work when you’ve pretty much built a whole car from scratch! First image is awesome btw.

  9. Looking awesome Nigel, wil it run a Space Cab Tub? or Single Cab Tub?

    Reply
    • Thanks Ty, it will run a spacecab tub then ill be adding 150mm into the front section which will make it 150mm shorter than a regular tub

      • This thing is gonna be epic. How much power is the SR going to be pumping out? 370ish rwhp?

        850KG? Wasn’t expecting that!

        • Power at this stage is unknown. My 180SX makes approx 350hp and feels great, ideally 400hp would be perfect.
