Visiting NZ early this year I was amazed at the proximity of their racetracks, with some rounds only 100km away from each other they had it easy. Australia is a little different, I was lucky enough to live 100km from the round 1 event at Calder, Round 2 and 3 are a different story, read on for details.
In the past I have done events in SA (8 hours away) Tassie (overnight ferry and 6 hours of driving) sydney (10 hours away) but round 2 at Queensland raceway is twice as far as I have ever gone.
A 3,000 km round trip with two days of drifting in between is a massive effort, I am super pumped to finally drift in QLD though. Â Two weeks after this is Drift Attack on Calders racetrack and then the WA leg of ADGP, that track is some 3,500 km away…… Am I going to do it? Well time will tell.

Super pumped to see you in action mate.
Best of luck, hopefully get to meet you while you’re up here.

Hey did you think off flying over and driving someone else’s car I’m sure someone would be happy for you to steer their car….. Anyone??? I’ve seen it done when a car has broken they drive another for the points
Nigel
I have thought of that but i couldn’t possibly ask to lend a car for the weekend.
andrew
does that mean you’re not bringing the drift ute up with you? i was super keen to see it
Nigel
No chance of bringing the ute up mate, id love to but just cant do it.
Dwayne Jarrett
hey nigel hopefully you make it to WA i live in SA myself, and barbagallo is the only one i have time of work for.. so gonna have to go there, hope you make it buddy, good luck
Simon
I love the look of your ute! The wheels really set it apart from most other aussie utes getting around.
Flatchat
Well Nigel
After reading this maybe someone will offer. I Would not ask for a drive either but if they offer I’d take them up on that 😉
RIPGTR
good to see ya finally coming to qld. what day is the event on? might come up for a look.
Dan
Hopefully you make it up here in one piece Nigel. The Ute should make it easy enough with cruise, just hope the wildlife on the way don’t give you any trouble.
Will make a lovely 3 weeks of motorsport with Bathurst 6-9th, ADGP 15-16th and GC 600 21-23rd. I can’t wait to see some serious drifting at QR too; has been a while between drinks.

shiny dave
i did it in 20hours straight through few years ago man, for super drift , foot to the floor. see how you go
Sciclone
Do yourself a favour and DON’T go the Newell. It is supposedly quicker, but after having travelled it a month ago (Went from Brisbane to Mt Hotham and back) I can say for certain the road is crap. With horror potholes, phantom roadworks and a dead boring drive on single lane highways, it was enough to send anyone mad.
The coast route (Melb – Albury – Sydney – Brisbane) has improved heaps over the last couple of years, and is a much nicer drive.
Mick
You’ve got a huge mission ahead of you I have trouble going to winton nearly every month hope all goes well and much respect
Dan
When are you leaving Nigel, will have to be soon?
