ADGP Round 2 – What’s it going to take?

Visiting NZ early this year I was amazed at the proximity of their racetracks, with some rounds only 100km away from each other they had it easy. Australia is a little different, I was lucky enough to live 100km from the round 1 event at Calder, Round 2 and 3 are a different story, read on for details.

In the past I have done events in SA (8 hours away) Tassie (overnight ferry and 6 hours of driving) sydney (10 hours away) but round 2 at Queensland raceway is twice as far as I have ever gone.

A 3,000 km round trip with two days of drifting in between is a massive effort, I am super pumped to finally drift in QLD though.  Two weeks after this is Drift Attack on Calders racetrack and then the WA leg of ADGP, that track is some 3,500 km away…… Am I going to do it? Well time will tell.

  6. I love the look of your ute! The wheels really set it apart from most other aussie utes getting around.

  9. Hopefully you make it up here in one piece Nigel. The Ute should make it easy enough with cruise, just hope the wildlife on the way don’t give you any trouble.
Will make a lovely 3 weeks of motorsport with Bathurst 6-9th, ADGP 15-16th and GC 600 21-23rd. I can’t wait to see some serious drifting at QR too; has been a while between drinks.

  11. Do yourself a favour and DON’T go the Newell. It is supposedly quicker, but after having travelled it a month ago (Went from Brisbane to Mt Hotham and back) I can say for certain the road is crap. With horror potholes, phantom roadworks and a dead boring drive on single lane highways, it was enough to send anyone mad.

The coast route (Melb – Albury – Sydney – Brisbane) has improved heaps over the last couple of years, and is a much nicer drive.
