Took a trip this saturday down to my parents place to give the 180SX a good clean up and look over after the TopGear festival. Its all ready for Victorias biggest comp Drift Attack! Read on for more photos.

The big difference is the polished wheels, after cracking yet another TE37 and damaging one of my fronts i ordered new TE37s to complete my bronze set and then decided to do what id never thought i would, buy Varrstoen TE fakes. Ive been against rip off wheels for a long time for the obvious reasons, but after buying 12 genuine TE37s from the Rays factory overy the last few years i cannot afford to keep busting them and rebuying the huge dollar rims.

I bought 3 sets of staggered wheels, 6 off 18×10.5+15 and 6 off 18×9.5+12, the quality looks fairly good with a few blemishes here and there but overall they are brilliant value for money.

Fitment wise they are perfect, actually a lot wider than the 10.5″ TE37 measuring an extra 10-15 mm wider overall, this makes them more of a 11″ rim than a 10.5, that means a 235 stretches even more which makes me 🙂

I only had room for a pair of 10.5s in the ute on the way down so the 9.5s will go on the front with 225-40 tyres.
What do people think? Im going to be a whole lot less stressed now when grinding ripple strips.

not a bad looking rim considering. definately rather be replacing damaged ones of these then real TE’s
Gordon
Not a huge fan of the kit and wheels. But from an economy standpoint, it’s good move.
Still looking great man, clean as atm.
Steveo
Where do you get these from?
I really dont want to drift with my TE’s but cant stand doing it with stockies. Might grab a set of these if they aren’t too $$
mateo
I like them. I think im going to get a set of 19’s for my s14. I have also always been against know offs but i figure i already have a set of work cr kai and a set of work equips one set of know offs won’t hurt. Plus they don’t make te’s in polish.
Nigel
As long as you have more genuines than knock offs then you can still get into heaven haha
Jason
3 sets of wheels in one hit.. Your wallet must be hurting.
Looks good as always Nigel..
You may have even persuaded me to get these for my rig now to 🙂
Nigel
Not really mate, they were pretty cheap. But i will have to sell 4 of them 🙁
HachiTom
so rays doesn’t have a warranty or anything? seems a bit silly if your paying 2k+ a set of wheels and you keep braking them…
Nigel
Not for the abuse i put them through, great rim but you can get a rim to be light + strong
Paulie
What do you do with the old cracked wheels? (if they are beyond repair)
Nigel
Coffee tables in my office when i get one 🙂
cheapskate
Although I’m against people saying +1 etc…
+1 for turning it into a coffee table. With your skills, that would be a cinch. But you would have to stop stuff from falling through. That’s where “cheap” 380mm big brake kits come in i.e. K-Sport, G4, D2 (Same as G4 but purple) etc. come in. A little on the expensive side though.
While we’re on this theme, how about a cleaned out Pan Speed Ohlins damper with the piston taken out as a cup? 🙂
Paulie
My thoughts exactly. Glad they’re being put to good use
Robby
Wheels suit! +1 on polished! Certianly stands out!
Same fittment specs as mine!
Nigel
Cheers mate, yea i like them a lot. Value for $ and great looks.
Phil
Wheels look mint 🙂
lachlan
my mate has an 18x13J te37 gt500 denso sard supra wheel coffee table, so awesome
how many te37’s have u busted?
benn
Hey mate, if it’s not too much to ask, whats the size of the wheels and tires on the front in those pics ^ ? i got a little lost in the read lol. it looks like the front rims are bigger then the rears. thanks
paolo
Are you running spacers all round with that setup?
Shane
Are these the hyper black or full polish wheels? And why did you decide to run 18×9.5s instead of your normal 17s up front?
I think your car is the best 180 out there man. I really do. I have a lot more questions..your car is an inspiration.
